Southern Swag | Monograms, Pearls & Bows

Happy Friday, loves!

The holidays are right around the corner and the cold weather is officially here. Fall weather is my favorite, but as per usual, Georgia skipped over fall and settled right in to winter. That's okay, though, because that means hot chocolate (with marshmallows, obviously) and cozy sweaters!

In true southern fashion, I layered up in none other than my adorable crewneck monogrammed sweatshirt from Marley Lilly! Keeping in theme with the bow on my shirt, I decided to pair it with pearl accessories and my gold bow bracelet. I can't think of anything more girly than pink, pearls, and bows!

Monogrammed accessories make the perfect Christmas gift for that special girl (or guy!) in your life. If you are new to monograms, Marley Lilly has a Monogram 101 guide that details the many ways to customize your order. They made your Christmas shopping even easier by putting great gift ideas all in one place! (And if someone could send this to my husband nonchalantly mention this to my husband, that'd be great.)

My sweatshirt is super comfy and kept me warm for my day in the city.  I love that it's versatile enough to be dressed up with jeans and pearls or dressed down with leggings and boots.

Monogrammed Bow Crewneck Sweatshirt

Here are a few other Marley Lilly items I have my eye on:

 Monogrammed Pullover Sweatshirt

Monogrammed Taylor Necklace

Monogrammed 'Merican Made Spirit Football Jersey

Be sure to check out Marley Lilly and follow them on Instagram, Facebook, & Twitter

And don't forget to tag @marleylilly and @makeupbyaundi so we can see your southern swag!

Recent Beauty Favorites | MakeupByAundi

I am thrilled to share with you guys some new (to me) products that I've been recently loving. These items make me so excited to get up every morning and do my makeup. And you know they must be good to get me excited enough to get out of bed!

Purity by Philosophy | $23 at Ulta

I don't know why it's taken me so long to try this facial cleanser. This cult favorite is probably the most raved about cleanser in the beauty community. It even won an Allure Reader's Choice Award - and now I know why! It's super gentle - you can even use it to clean your makeup brushes! - and leaves my face feeling squeaky clean without leaving it tight and dry. I haaate that feeling that some cleansers can give. I do use other products (anyone else feeling a skin care routine coming on?) if I need a deep clean, but this one is great for everyday use. I especially love using it in the mornings to feel refreshed and ready to start my day!

Urban Decay Subversion Lash Primer | $20 at Ulta

OMG. This lash primer is a game changer. UD launched this primer as a partner to their popular Perversion mascara. I used the mascara on its own, and it's okay but nothing spectacular. When paired with this primer, however, it's HOLY LASHES! I cannot tell you how many people in the past month have commented on my lashes or asked me if they are real... When others notice a difference, I'd say it's a stand out product! I've paired this primer with other mascara favorites of mine, and it takes them all to the next level. It's amazing! I could go on and on, but I think you get the idea. I digress.

Pur Minerals 4-in-1 Pressed Mineral Makeup | $27 at Ulta

If you watched my Full Coverage Foundation Routine, you'll know that I have begun exploring the world of powder foundations. Something I never thought I would venture to try since my skin is ridiculously dry. Also, many powders can age women and look heavy and made-up. But this foundation defies all my preconceived ideas. This medium to full foundation provides buildable coverage and looks beautiful on the skin. My favorite way to wear it is on top of my latest favorite liquid foundation... Which is the perfect segue into my next favorite!

MAC Mineralize Moisture SPF 15 Foundation | $35 at MAC Cosmetics
At the hefty price of $35, I was skeptical of this foundation to say the least. I stopped by my local MAC to pick up a couple old faithfuls and the sweet girl was really talking up this foundation. I finally conceded to let her try it on me, and holy moly, it was love at first sight. My skin looked so smooth and hydrated which is a rare sight for me! It gives the healthiest luminous finish to my skin. To keep it from getting too shiny, I set it with my Pur powder foundation which really amps up the coverage, leaving my skin flawless.

NYX Control Freak Eyebrow Gel | $5.99 at Ulta

Hooray for an awesome drugstore find! This brow gel is amazeballs. It holds my brows in place all day long without leaving them crunchy or flakey. (We've all been there, am I right?) You guys know the brow gel drill, so I won't ramble on. But it's basically everything I could want in a brow gel and at an affordable price. Yes, please!

Laura Geller Spackle Hydrating |  $27.32 at QVC

I'm not quite sure what the deal is with this guy... It's available exclusively with QVC until the end of the year. I don't know if after that it will be available at other retailers or not at all. Her other primers are currently available at Ulta. I love this one in particular because it's so hydrating (duh) and doesn't have that usual silicone-y feel to it. It literally feels like moisturizer and makes for a much smoother makeup application. I'm totally hooked.

St. Tropez Self Tan Bronzing Mousse | $18-42 at Ulta

I realize I'm pretty much the last person on the planet to try St. Tropez. I tried a few self-tanners back in high school when they first started gaining popularity. Talk about a smelly oompa-loompa train wreck. Then I went through my tanning-bed phase in college. All it took was one bout with sun-poison and I swore of UV altogether. For the past couple years, I've tried to embrace the natural, porcelain look. I went as Kim Kardashian for Halloween (and yes, my husband was the most adorable Kanye you've ever seen) so porcelain skin was obviously out of the question. I picked up the smallest size available and a mitt to apply. I still can't believe at how easy the whole process was and how amazing the results were! It doesn't smell or turn orange at all and it fades beautifully. I've officially jumped on that St. Tropez bandwagon!

CK One Lip Liner in Lovely |  $13 at Ulta

What I initially thought would be a basic lip liner has turned into one of my favorites for fall. It is a nice neutral tone (a la Kylie Jenner) that gives slight definition to the lips. My favorite way to wear it is to fill in my lips completely and top it off with Creme Brulee Butter Gloss by NYX. It's a beautiful nude lip that still gives a perfect amount of color. So, so beautiful!

That wraps it up for my recent favorites! Since I'm not able to blog as consistently anymore, make sure you're following me on Instagram because I share lots of favorites on there!

Fashion Friday | One-of-a-Kind Infinity Scarf

I think scarves make the perfect accessory for fall and winter. Paired with skinny jeans and boots, you pretty much can't go wrong. A great scarf can pull together an entire outfit in such a chic and effortless way.

I love scarves. No really, I love them. I especially love me a good infinity scarf.

A super sweet and talented friend of mine, Jennifer, knows my affinity for scarves and was generous enough to make me one. I don't think it could get any more adorable (I mean seriously, it has gold polka dots!) and it's so snuggly. The coolest part? It's one of a kind.

I've known Jenn for a few years now and her knack for creating things continues to amaze me. From clothes and accessories to home decor, she makes it all. I think a one-of-a-kind scarf is the perfect Christmas gift. (I know - I also can't believe it's time to start thinking about Christmas gifts!)

If you want to contact Jenn to place a custom order, check out her Facebook and Etsy Shop!

Have a great weekend!

Drugstore Products I Can't Live Without

Hooray for a new blog post! And double hooray for a day off to write a new blog post!

I wanted to share with you guys my most repurchased items from the drugstore. I'm also planning on sharing my most repurchased high end items. Let me know if that's something you'd like to see!

You know something is a great product when you have to run to the store to pick up another at the mere thought of running out. That's what all these items are for me. Even though I'm constantly trying new products, these items always have a place in my rotation.

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser | $8.99 at Ulta

This concealer is a contender to even the most high end concealers in my collection. I love to use the brightening shade to highlight the high points of the face. It's a smooth, lightweight formula that's super easy to blend. The sponge tip applicator makes for a fool-proof application that I like to press into the skin with my finger. It's easy to work with and it's affordable. Win-win!

Burt's Bees Lip Balm | $3.29 at Ulta

I literally cannot live without one of these guys in my bag and one on my nightstand at all times. There are plenty of great lip balms out there but this one happens to be my favorite. It doesn't just sit on the surface of my lips, it actually moisturizes and treats my chapped lips. I usually buy these in bulk, if that gives you any indication of my obsession.

Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes | $7.99 at Ulta

Makeup removing wipes are very handy to keep in stock, but they are not meant to be your only facial cleanser. I use these wipes as my first step of removing makeup, followed by my favorite nighttime facial cleanser. I also use them to remove any traces of left over mascara. Waterproof can be a pain to remove! The Neutrogena brand is my favorite because they don't dry out my skin or burn my eyes like several other brands I've tried.

L'Oreal True Match Lumi Foundation | $12.99 at Ulta

This foundation is one of my go-to's, especially during the dry, colder weather. If you have oily skin, I would skip out on this foundation because it gives a very dewy finish for dry gals like me. It will give even the dullest of skin a healthy, youthful glow. I usually like to set it with powder just to keep it from giving me too much shine. I love the true match line because it's based on skin undertones and there is a shade out there for everyone.

Covergirl LashBlast Mascara (Waterproof) |  $8.99 at Ulta

Whether it's humid outside or I'm going to watch the newest chick-flick, this is my favorite waterproof mascara. It can hold it's own against the weather, sweat and tears, and even my crazy oily eyelids. If there is the slightest chance that my mascara will budge, I always go with LashBlast. If you're looking for a mascara that will hold your curl, this one will do the trick. Both the formula and rubber wand give me volume at the roots with length and separation at the tips. My personal favorite look for lashes!

Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in Translucent | $4.99 at Ulta

If you've followed my blog for awhile, you know that I used to stay as far away from powder as possible. (I am working on broadening my horizons, just so you know!) I can't tell you how many of these powders I have gone through. I just apply the thinnest layer to my T-zone in order to set my makeup, especially when I'm wearing the Lumi foundation. This powder doesn't accentuate any dry patches on my skin or make me looked cake face. It's such a great formula. The translucent shade doesn't give additional coverage, but the formula does come in other shades if that's what you're looking for.

What are the drugstore products you can't live without?

Get To Know Me + Life Update

Hi loves! I feel like it's been ages since I last blogged. I wanted to fill you guys in on why I've been MIA lately and also do a fun little tag. Thanks to Megan from The Panwar Palace for tagging me!

As you may already know, I took a huge leap of faith a few months back to pursue a career in the world of beauty. Initially I thought that would be blogging and continuing freelancing as a makeup artist. Through a series of events, an opportunity presented itself for a full-time job in the beauty industry. A job where I can utilize my knowledge as a makeup artist and put to use that good ol' degree I worked so hard to earn! This new job also exposes me to the latest products and makeup trends that I can't wait to share with you all! I am so thrilled for this new adventure and excited to learn even more about all things beauty.

But don't worry, I'm not going anywhere!

My brand new (and slightly crazy) schedule has taken a toll on me the past couple weeks, but as soon as I'm adjusted, I will figure out a new blogging schedule with brand new posts and videos for you guys. I will still continue to do Fashion Friday posts on occasion, just not every week. I have lots of reviews coming your way. Get excited!

In the mean time, I will leave you with 20 random facts about myself! :)

3. I'm also obsessed with horizontal stripes.
4. I love to binge watch shows on Netflix.
5. I secretly want to be a standup comedian.

10. I'm three years and 358 days away from turning 30.
11. I have to sleep with the fan on and under blankets. There is no other way to sleep.
12. Mexican food is my favorite.
13. I hate watermelon.
14. I have watched the series Friends more times than I can count.
15. My child dog, Joey was named after the character on Friends.
16. I have the smallest hands I've ever seen on an adult human being.

Fashion Friday | Black & White Stripes

You know how when you find something that works, you stick with it? Well, for me, that would be stripes. Horizontal stripes. Especially black and white horizontal stripes. The obsession is so real.

I didn't realize I had a problem an obsession with stripes until I worked with children. If any of my coworkers wore stripes the kids would say, "Look Mrs. Lesley, she's dressed like you!

For generations, women have been told to avoid horizontal stripes at all cost, especially those of us on the curvier side. Horizontal stripes make you look fat! There is tons of research out there on whether or not that old adage is true. But you know what? I don't care! This is one of those fashion 'rules' I throw out the window. I wear what makes me happy. And stripes make me happy. Horizontal black and white ones.

This hi-lo top is so dang comfy! It can be paired with jeans or a comfy pair of leggings. One of my favorite color combos is black and brown - especially for fall! I was excited to bust a pair of boots out of my closet, but the weather here in good ol' Georgia is not quite ready for boots. I'll be sporting this outfit with sandals until fall officially sets in.

As I was running errands in this outfit, a random stranger proposed to me. (I told him one husband was enough for me, and he assured me my husband is a lucky man.) I guess those stripes are really working for me! ;)

Top Ten Luxury Products Under $25 | Collab with The Panwar Palace

Today's exciting post is in collaboration with fellow beauty blogger, Megan from The Panwar Palace.

Check out her favorite luxury items here!

I met Megan on Instagram (follow her @megan_panwar). She is one of the sweetest friends I've met in the beauty community. I love variety of content on her blog and reading her thoughts on makeup and skincare. And as a bonus, she is freaking gorgeous!

BK Photography

Top Ten Luxury Items Under $25
Just to clarify,  I am using the term 'luxury' somewhat loosely, essentially meaning not found at the drugstore. Initially I wanted to include an array of products like eyes, brows, face, etc., but I decided to narrow down what I actually use on a regular basis. That way you guys know what really is in my top ten!

Products numbered by placement, not in order of preference. :)

1. Mario Badescu Caviar Night Cream | $20 at Ulta

I have tried several items from the Mario Badescu line and have found nothing that I don't like. The Caviar Night Cream is no stranger to my blog and has become my holy grail nighttime moisturizer. It's thick and intensely hydrating, which is perfect for my super dry skin. I have and will continue to repurchase this moisturizer sent from above. (No really, it's that amazing.)

2. MAC Eyeshadows | $16 at MAC Cosmetics

Brown Script & Amber Lights

I've never been a MAC snob when in regard to their shadows, but these two shades have been staples in my makeup bag for a long time. Some MAC shadows can be hit or miss, but these two are both high quality and easy to work with. Anyone can wear these shades, but they look especially good on blue eyes.

3. Benefit They're Real Mascara | $23 at Ulta

If you have followed my blog or YouTube for any length of time, you know I'm a big believer in drugstore mascara. I got sucked into the samples in the checkout line at Ulta (gets me every time!) and decided to try this mascara. I was skeptical at all the hype around it. Welp, it's definitely worth the hype! It's volumizing, super lengthening, and gives me the clean and separated look that I love. The best part is that it does not smudge, even on my uber oily eyelids! It's not waterproof, so it washes off like a dream. It's basically everything I look for in a mascara. If you are a skeptic like me, you can try the sample size at Ulta for $10. When I run out, I will most definitely be purchasing the full size!

4. Stila Eyeshadow in Kitten | $18 at Ulta

Kitten is a cult favorite and for good reason. It's one of the most gorgeous shadows I've ever used. It's creamy. It's buttery. It's shimmery. It's pretty much perfect. I've used this on clients ranging from fair to women of color, and it's beautiful on everyone. The only downside to being so finely milled, if you drop it, it's going to shatter. Just treat it like the dainty treasure it is, and you'll have no problem.

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Smog 0.05 oz

BONUS FAVORITE - I don't own any Urban Decay single shadows, so I didn't include them in this Top Ten, but UD shadows are my favorite, ever! (Except the ones with chunky flex of glitter that end up all over your face by the end of the day. Yuck.) You'll get more bang for your buck investing in a palette, but if you're on a budget, the single shadows are $18 at Ulta. My favorite and most used shade is Smog. Love!

5. BITE Beauty Luminous Creme Lipsticks | $24 at Sephora

Bite Beauty Luminous Creme Lipstik Duo

That price tag is a big commitment for my frugal self, so I decided to try this miniature duo for $12 before jumping on the BITE Beauty bandwagon. BITE lipsticks are made with all natural, food grade ingredients. Yep, they're healthy enough to eat! It took one swipe on my lips, and I was hooked. The lipstick is creamy but lightweight on the lips and fairly longwearing. I'll have no problem shelling out $24 for a full size next time I go to Sephora. I'm in love!

6. MAC Paintpot in Painterly | $21 at MAC Cosmetics
MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot - CAMEL COAT
Painterly is my ride or die eye shadow base. I've used it for as long as I can remember and don't see myself ever using anything else. I've tried just about every primer on the market, and nothing holds up against my oily lids like Painterly. It creates a flawless base for shadows without creasing. It's easy to blend. It makes my shadows pop and more blendable. Painterly FTW!

7. MAC Lipsticks | $16 at MAC Cosmetics
Mac Lipstick

While there are so many great lipsticks at the drugstore, there's just something about wearing a 'high-end' lipstick. I'm not a die-hard MAC lipstick fan, but I do love the ones I own. My favorite formula is Cremesheen because I think they're the most comfortable on the lips. The two shades I currently wear most often are Creme Cup & Faux. Creme Cup is the perfect light pinky-nude and Faux is a rusty, brown-nude - perfect for the Kylie Jenner lip trend.

8. The Balm Blushes | $21-22 at the Balm

DownBoy®

These blushes are the balm.com! See what I did there? ;) I love the shade DownBoy for the perfect babydoll pink flush. I really love their InStain long-wearing blushes. The shade Houndstooth is a beautiful mauvey-plum color and probably the shade I reach for most often.

9. MAC Pro Longwear Concealer | $20 at MAC Cosmetics

This concealer is another cult classic that is raved about in the beauty community. At first, I wasn't a huge fan because this concealer isn't quite as hydrating as my Maybelline Instant Age Rewind or Fit Me concealers. However, the great thing about this concealer is that it's full coverage. I can not only use it to conceal my under-eye area but also any blemishes or hyper-pigmentation on the rest of my face, which is rare for a liquid concealer.  It can even be used to prime the eyelids before applying shadow. I love that it's a multi-purpose product that can be used for so many different things. It is very long wearing and though it can set in my fine lines slightly if not set with powder, it doesn't crease as easily as my other concealers. Since it is a heavier product, it's something I reach for more for special occasions rather than day-to-day.

10. Anastasia of Beverly Hills Brow Wiz ($21) & Dipbrow Pomade ($18) | at Ulta

Products from Anastasia of Beverly Hills are a brow game changer. I used to fill my brows in with eye shadow (and still do occasionally) and later progressed to drugstore brow pencils. While there are some great drugstore options, nothing compares to ABH. I love the Brow Wiz (I use shade Soft Brown) because the tip is so fine that it can mimic the appearance of actual brow hairs to give a more natural appearance. The spooly on the opposite end makes the product super easy to comb through and blend. The Dipbrow Pomade (I use shade Soft Brown) is a little more difficult to get the hang of, but it's a waterproof product that will last all day. I love this product to define the tail of my eyebrow, or to give a more defined brow for days when I want a little more drama. If you want a strong brow game, ABH is the way to go.

Don't forget to check out Megan's Top Ten

What are some of your favorite 'luxury' items? Let me know! I'm always looking for new products to try!
