2014 Met Gala Makeup | Favorite & Hate It

If you are unfamiliar with the Met Gala, it is the annual celebration of the Metropolitan Museum's fashion exhibit at the Costume Institute hosted by Vogue Magazine. It's been coined 'Fashion Prom' where celebrities get super glam and get the chance to wear something fun and edgy.

There were so many fabulous looks this year from stunning ball gowns and dapper tuxes to Old Hollywood class, and it was sooo hard to narrow down my favorites. Keep in mind, I chose my faves based strictly on their makeup. :)

Blake Lively - Favorite Overall Look

With Blake's gorgeous gown and retro waves, she didn't need to overdo it with her makeup. Her look is simple and sweet, playing up the eyes with voluminous lashes and a toned-down version of a red lip. She looked so stunning. And let's face it - her best accessory was undoubtedly her hunk-of-a-husband, Ryan Reynolds. I threw this pic in just because it's fun to look at. You're welcome.

Lupita Nyong'o - Favorite Eyes

I am no fashion expert, so I'm refraining from commenting on Lupita's choice of wardrobe, but I commend her for her bold choice. While her dress may not be my favorite, I am loving her makeup. It's springtime appropriate focusing on her gorgeous, glowing skin. I love her fun yet subtle purple eye. The look as a whole is so light-hearted. Love, love, love.

Reese Witherspoon - Favorite Lips

I love the classic Old Hollywood vibe Reese had going on. It's simply and classy, but with a splash of unexpected color on the lips to complement her gown. Gorg.

Hailee Steinfeld - Favorite Brows

I love everything about Hailee's look, but please take a moment to adore those brows! I seriously can't get enough.

Emma Stone - Favorite Spring Look

I have an unashamed girl crush on my girl Emma. I reallly wanted her makeup to be outstanding (her makeup is usually on point), but this look is just kinda meh. I like the peachy tones for spring, but there is too much shimmer in her crease for my taste. Maybe if the shadow hadn't been blended so close to the brow bone or even been a matte shade... There is little to no color on her cheeks and  even the lips were a miss for me. I would've gone more nude to not compete with her dress or go all in with a bright, vivid shade of pink to complement the dress. It's okay, though. I still love you Emma!

Giuliana Rancic - Hate It!

I have always loved Giuliana, but her makeup last night was a major miss. I can appreciate the classic look she was going for, but the liner is way too harsh. The false lower lashes are atrocious. And worst of all, her contour makes her look wayyy too thin. I think this look overall makes her appear much older than she is. As much as it pains me to say, Giuliana was the worst makeup look of the night.

What did you guys think of the fashion last night? What was your favorite makeup look? I would love to hear your thoughts!

xoxo

  1. Last year I did my makeup lesson from Lina, she trains best makeup lesson in my town. After that I did my makeover by myself on my gala night. And everyone was asking me from where I did my makeover. I love the way Lina taught me everything, she really helped me a lot to create my own platform. I am really thankful to her for this. Anyone can get makeup lesson from her. She will be best for this!

  2. Celebrities pay for the Matt Gala. There is a designer who gives you the costume. The event is a huge fundraiser for the costume organization - Matt’s only self-funded department.
